♻️ Thinking Back: Co-Leading the eWaste Collection Initiative

Thinking back to October 2022, one of the most rewarding highlights of my time at Sunway Education Group was co-leading the eWaste Collection Bin CSR initiative—a project rooted in sustainability and campus-wide collaboration. ♻️

The initiative started from scratch and evolved through months of planning, partner discussions, design (POC), and onsite coordination. It was a powerful reminder that impactful projects don’t always start big—they grow from intention and teamwork.

What made this experience even more meaningful was the opportunity to work closely with Meriahtek, whose partnership and commitment to environmental responsibility played a vital role in bringing the project to life. Their collaboration helped us move from concept to execution with purpose and professionalism.

As an IT Executive stepping into a project leadership role, this was a valuable shift—allowing me to contribute beyond my usual scope. From setting up the logistics to ensuring community engagement, I learned firsthand how tech and sustainability can intersect to drive real change.

More than just a technical task, this was a heart-led project that aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, giving the campus community a simple but powerful way to responsibly dispose of electronic waste.

I'm thankful for the exposure, growth, and lessons that came with this project—and I’m hopeful for more opportunities to contribute to initiatives that combine purpose with action.
